At the January meeting, during New Business, we will be voting on allowing Corning DAV Chapter merging with us. A merger will make DAV #125 one of the largest DAV Chapters in California; encampassing 1/3 of the state. All I can see is good coming from this; so, I'm hoping many of you will show up for this meeting, and we can discuss this, and get a majority vote to allow this to happen.
I was talking to an Adjutant from Wisconsin about what I sent to DAVfrat., the conversation is about the new membership cards, and here is what I sent ...
"I never meant to cause such a squabble using the term "grey and puke green" describing the new logo and new membership cards! It's like some seemed to take it personal. If you order a new membership card, you'll see exactly what I was referring to. The old cards had "Disabled American Veterans" on the top of them. The new cards don't even look like membership cards. Not too professionally designed. My idea, is that a newly designed card isn't going to attract new, and younger, members ... maybe having activities to attract families and scheduling meetings at times younger adults with kids could attended ... otherwise, we will have to wait until they get older to join. Lowering the cost of Life Memberships might also change things. I'm uncertain if I would join again, if I had to buy a Life Membership at today's prices, and I was still 25-35." I also think DAV membership should be extended to any Veteran who became disabled during active duty. What's everyone else's thoughts on this? I'll show what the new cards look like at our January meeting ...
